A noble's life typically follows a pattern:

  • Birth.
  • Childhood, usually filled with play and learning.
  • Legal adulthood at age thirteen, when their studies continue into matters of ruling.
  • True adulthood at age fifteen, when he or she, if orphaned, may rule without a regent.
  • Marriage between the ages of seventeen and nineteen, followed shortly by making heirs.
  • Grooming the children once they're born and managing the estate.
  • Retirement, which is rare since most either enjoy the power, or are worried for their heirs.

A magic student's life typically follows a pattern:

  • Birth.
  • Childhood, usually filled with play and learning.
  • Legal adulthood at age thirteen, when they seek a teacher or the academy. Some may also seek a trade apprenticeship as well.
  • True adulthood at age fifteen, his or her studies continue.
  • Marriage between the ages of nineteen and twenty-one, depending on how far he or she wishes to study and if he or she is noble or not.
  • Work-- a magic user must find a job. It's easiest with the military in Driazhek, but some prefer to freelance.
  • Retirement is whenever a magician is ready to be done doing magic.

Magic students usually start learning about 14 or 15.
